When designing or discussing staircases, a left-hand curtail step refers to the first step at the bottom of a staircase that is wider and often rounded or curved on the left side. This design element not only adds an aesthetic appeal, creating a graceful transition from the floor to the staircase, but also provides a practical advantage by offering a broader stepping area at the base.
This can enhance safety by providing more space for footing, especially in environments where the staircase might be heavily trafficked or where there might be children or elderly individuals.
Crafted in Sapele, with it’s interlocking grain pattern, sapele is durable and strong, perfect for staircases. Left-hand curtail steps are common in both residential and commercial settings, providing an elegant introduction to the staircase and aligning well with traditional and modern design sensibilities.

We advise that you do not book any trades people or schedule your stair parts to be fitted until your order has been delivered and checked in full.
For all made-to-measure glass and large orders, we use our own fleet of transport vehicles.

Standard delivery to England, Wales and Low Lands of Scotland is a next day service.
Deliveries take place between 8am & 6pm. Sunday and Bank Holidays deliveries are not available.
