When designing your own staircase, who better to ask than the professionals.
Grosvenor Stairs are more then happy to help you with your project or supply you with the correct materials for you to build it yourself.
All our staircases comply to UK Building regulations (document K) in domestic properties. Call Simon Cuzick or one of his team to discuss commercial staircases.
From the time of order and signed staircase design form the staircase will take 5 to 10 days with a delivery date given straight away, please call if the staircase is needed sooner
It will be dry put together before it leaves the workshop, when it arrives it will be part assembled for your fitter or flat pack if required.
All staircases are delivered by our own staircase delivery vehicles.

No, it is delivered to you as a pre sanded finish, ready for you to apply your preferred finish ( we recommend a product OSMO).
Yes we have our own turner and handrail maker who can match anything (not carving).
Yes, we have a dedicated workshop and showroom that can be visited Monday to Friday and weekends by appointment.
We sell a large selection of toughened glass panels small and large with the stairs and separate.
Yes, if you’re using timber spindles. Infill strips fill the groove between each spindle, so the channel doesn’t show as a continuous gap once spindles are fittled.
We come up against this all the time and a double winder will fit in the same space please phone for details.
If we cannot talk you through it on the phone; we offer an onsite survey to take the worry away. Please phone to arrange.
No, it against building regulations, however, you can have half open half closed as long as the gap is no larger than 100mm.
No, metal spindles are fixed with brackets or shoes designed for an ungrooved rail. A grooved rail’s channel is sized and shaped for timber spindle feet and won’t accept a metal fixing correctly.
A handrail runs along the top of the balustrade at hand height and is what you grip when using the stairs. A baserail runs along the bottom, doing the equivalent structural job for the base of each spindle rather than the top.
32mm and 41mm are the two standard widths in the UK market, sized to match the most common turned spindle foot dimensions. Always check your spindle width before ordering – the two aren’t interchangeable
Yes, but for a coherent finished look most staircases keep the baserail, newel posts and handrail in the same timber, with spindles sometimes varying (for example, oak rails and posts with painted timber spindles).
